The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is really catching up to me this week! Let’s see…where did I last leave off?
Wednesday. I successfully woke up and got my tempo run in as planned! Let me just say that it was a major struggle though. With temperatures just over 50 degrees, I definitely had to bundle up. I was excited to premier some new cold weather clothes I recently purchased from the local Nike clearance center. I just love these tights – they look like sweater material and are quite cute! Overall, it was a good effort with 3.1 miles at right around 24:00.
After work, I had to prepare for the next day’s holiday party at work. I had two major tasks. Firstly, I needed to make a salad for the pot luck meal. Secondly, I was inspired to make an ugly Christmas ensemble for the party as well. My Caprese salad turned out quite nicely:
Thursday. Thursday was quite a jam-packed day! First order of business was the grand premier of my “ugly” holiday sweater. I am sure most of you are familiar with Grumpy Cat. I just absolutely love here and somehow got the idea that she needed to be a part of my holiday look so I got to work. It was a big hit and has actually been posted in the “fan art album” on the Grumpy Cat Facebook and had received +500 likes , 80+ shares, and +70 comments! Great success!
So, as if that wasn’t exciting enough, I had quite an evening of fun too! When I got home from work, I needed to sneak in some miles quickly. I was supposed to do a group fun-run through Celebration to look at the Christmas lights but that plan quickly fell apart when I had the opportunity to go with a couple of friends and my mom to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party! I had to get the running part done asap to have enough time for the event. I had time for just shy of 4 miles and got to take in incredible sunset views like this:
This was actually my first time going to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and it was a lot of fun. As soon as we got to the park, we staked out our spot to watch the parade. It was very cute and I definitely recognized some of the floats from watching the Disney Parks Christmas Parade on TV in the past. Afterwards, we walked around, visited Ariel’s Grotto, watched the new castle projection show, and saw the special holiday fireworks. It was a magical night indeed!
Friday. My Dad and Brother flew in from Pennsylvania to spend some time with us for the holidays! I went with my Mom to the airport with some shopping on the way. I was pretty exhausted from this week and I think this day of errands may have preempted my speed work this week. Oops!
Today. I had the pleasure of attending the wedding shower for one of my dear friends from my MBA program. It was a very cute affair and it was nice to catch up with friends who I do not see as often as I would like.
While I was hoping to sneak in some additional miles today, I am feeling just slightly under the weather so I am probably best not to push my luck. After all, I have 11 miles waiting for me tomorrow!
As for this evening, we are planning to join my parents and brother for dinner and then head over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to check out the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. It should be lots of fun (as long as it doesn’t set my health back!). I am certainly looking forward to a couple of days off coming up! The Tinker Bell Half will be here before I know it so I better step it up!
