So, since I have mentioned that time is hard to come by lately (in our cleaning, decorating, and now remodeling frenzy), I have decided to start a little series of posts that will hopefully be easy for me to stay up to date on. As I tackle decorating little sections of our home, I would love to share my work with you! These posts will hopefully be image heavy and I will sure to provide any DIY details and as much information as possible about where I either procured the products or sought inspiration (9 times out of 10, it’s probably Pinterest).
Anyway, I will kick off this series with the deal of a lifetime on a chair for my bedroom.
Where & Why:
While almost all of our beautiful bedroom furniture was purchased for my first non-dorm domicile during college, I have been yearning for a cute little chair to bring everything together. I was inspired by the casual seating areas I have seen in so many Pinterest images so I wanted to recreate this theme in my own space. While we don’t have a ton of empty space in our bedroom, I did have a nice little corner in mind…
The Final Product:
This chair could possibly be the best deal I’ve ever secured. Clearly, the cats are already enjoying it.
Chair: I have been watching this chair for probably the last 6 months at our local Marshall’s store. The original retail prices was around $600 and the Marshall’s price started at $300. I waited patiently, visiting my chair every time I went and checking the price. Finally, after a few markdowns, it finally came down to $100 and I was immediately interested. But wait…there’s more. Because the chair sat around the store for so darn long, the fabric had some dirt on it, a few nicks appeared on the wood frame, and frame felt a little unstable. We chatted with the store manager and she ultimately offered us the chair for…get this…$50. I really couldn’t believe it and I was so excited to get to finally take my chair home!
Pillow: I actually bought this little decorative pillow when I moved into my freshman dorm. If I remember correctly, it was part of the Shabby Chic collection at Target. It just seemed to suit the chair perfectly.
The final piece of the puzzle fell into place over the weekend with a stop at HomeGoods, another incredible store owned by the Marshall’s/TJ Maxx parent company. My cats’ dark fur has very quickly coated the fabric of the chair so I wanted to get a throw to add a bit of style and make the cat fur a bit easier to manage. Well, voila!
Throw: My love of all things leopard print once again manifests itself. My cats decided it was important to model the new items again here. I picked up this lovely throw at HomeGoods for around $20. It is so cute and is reversible with a very chic, more abstract leopard print inspired pattern on the reverse side.
I hope you have enjoyed a little peek into our home! I will be sure to share more and more as we continue our work around the house. I think we finally have the cleaning part truly under control so here’s to some upcoming renovations and decorating efforts. Stay tuned…
